well, not sure what to say about last night except that we were robbed!!! the referee was clearly on the Mutton's side throughout and as for the sending off, well. No hang on a minute I'm getting confused with other posts sparked by the ridiculous comments of Maldon and Sour Grape's manager.
We lost 7-2 to a very good Shoulder of Mutton side. Although to be fair, no-one really covered themselves in glory (except for their captain who 7-balled Chris :S) and most of the singles matches were cat and mouse drawn out affairs, but excellent to watch and to play. A special mention should go to the two that won their singles, Ed Watson and, oh, ME!!! It was the best comeback since Lazarus and I felt a tiny bit sorry for my opponent when I took off my shoes and finally found some form.
We all lost our doubles, and John topped off the evening by losing the captain's game. Fair play to his opponent thought, she played very well and, as with all the other games, it was exciting to watch.
Next week is the first round of the doubles knock out cup. No word yet on where/ who we'll be playing but will keep you posted as always.
